First Drive: 2017 Honda Civic Si

Hondas featherweight Civic Si, slims down and speeds up. Who said power is everything?

With an affordable price of $24,775, this performance Civic will give most people the chance to drive and own. The base price includes a sunroof, heated sport seats, a touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The Civic Si engine is a turbocharged 1.5 liter four cylinder that is based on the one found in standard turbocharged Civics, but features a larger turbocharger. This gives the vehicle a more peppy, quick, strong and smooth acceleration which willingly feels distinctly faster than regular Civics. Connected to the Si's turbo engine is a six-speed manual transmission, which is the only transmission available, and a helical limited-slip differential.

The Si does not offer any optional infotainment system upgrades, so future owners will be working with Hondas standard touchscreen interface and an unbranded 10-speaker, 450-watt audio system. The overall aesthetic of the Si is similar to the standard Civic models with the inclusion of a leather-wrapped steering wheel, titanium accents, red contrast stitching, and Si-exclusive sport seats give the model a more performance-oriented vibe than the other Civic trim levels currently offer.

The Honda Civic Si is a thoroughly fun sport compact car and far more equipped than the Honda Civic Sport.
